This coming weekend offers a wealth of nature activities to choose from, too many possibly? Well, we’re certainly struggling to make our choice.
Kelburn Castle has a Viking day on Sunday, 28th August.
The National Museum of Rural Life has a Country Fair day on the very same day. There’s really a lot happening at this fair which will more than fill the day! You can choose from spinning demonstrations, explore wild food, or even slow food, you can watch sheep dogs at work, find out how to press apples or keep bees. There’s threshing, old sports, dairy milking, dry stane dyking, flour milling and so much more…
Still on Sunday, Culzean Castle has a Princesses and Knights themed day. Meet real Knights including King Robert the Bruce and ladies of his court. Come in costume and take the chance to participate in a wide range of mediaeval activities from designing a Coat of Arms to learning Courtly Behaviour. There are challenges, you can learn the skills and receive your very own Certificate confirming that you have qualified as a Knight or Princess. Meet in the Fountain Court.
Finally, Finlaystone Estate has a Teddy Bears’ picnic on, bring a teddy bear or dolly and there will be puppet shows, magic shows and games – and you wouldn’t believe it, it’s also on Sunday! So much goodness in one day.
